Going Abroad for the Summer? Tips for Storing Your Things in a Mini Storage Facility

Posted on: 12 October 2018

If you are planning to go abroad for the summer, not only will someone need to take care of your home while you are gone but you may have some things you do not want to leave in the home. If so, a mini storage facility may work well for you. Below is what a mini storage facility is, as well as what you should look for in the facility you choose.

Mini Storage

Mini storage facilities are much smaller when compared to a standard storage facility. Depending on the facility that you choose, the units may be the size of a closet. You will generally find a range of sizes available. This works well if you only have a few items you want to put away while you are gone. This could be expensive items or important items that you do not want to get damaged. For example, paperwork that could be damaged or destroyed in a flood or fire.

Some larger storage facility may have mini storage units available for you. This will make things much easier for you to store your things, and it may save you money by renting a much smaller space.

If the facility only has mini storage units, you may find the entire facility is smaller. There may be fewer parking spaces, so plan for this when you want to visit your unit.

What to Look For

You should look for the same things when choosing a mini storage facility as you would a larger one. First, make sure the area is well lit. If the area lights up when someone drives in this will deter them to leave. Security lights may be on all the time, such as floodlights. There may also be motion detector lights installed in various areas of the storage facility.

Climate and humidity control are something else to look for. This is especially true if you have electronic equipment. This is because high humidity causes moisture to build up and if the moisture builds up inside these devices, it will cause damage and may even destroy the items. There may be a thermostat installed inside the unit that allows you to control the temperature and humidity levels. If not, ask the owner of the facility what they keep these settings at.

Talk with the mini storage facility owner to learn much more about this. They can answer any questions you have to help you decide if this type of storage would be right for you.

Location Still Matters Even In The Digital World

Welcome to my website. I'm Joe Spears. A common adage for business is that it is all about location, location, location. Where you are able to open your storefront plays a large role in the success of your business. The same is true in the online world. If you want your real estate to sell, you need to understand where your properties need to be listed. I know this because I have purchased a much larger number of properties than your average Joe. Because of my interest in real estate, I have decided to create a blog that focuses on the marketing of real estate both online and offline.
